Catalogue Raisonné

This is a catalogue of known P&L properties which have been verified in any number of ways. The initial source is the catalogue created in the 1980's by Cornbrooks, Richter & Gribble, a successor firm of P&L's. Then, old advertisements from the Baltimore newspapers between 1915 and 1940, basically the years which P&L, PW&L, Palmer, and Lamdin, were most active. Next up was Roland Park Gardens, Homes and People Magazine (1925-1960), which encompassed Roland Park, Homeland and Guilford. Finally, contemporary real estate advertisements which mention P&L houses. In some cases, I have used information from local architects who are familiar with P&L's work in Baltimore. If there is a name in the listing, it is either the first owner, or the person who commissioned the house from P&L.

I will be adding to the list as I find new properties. Links to properties about which I have written are being added. Please send any new information here.

  1. Hi, Meg. Just stumbled across this. Love the P&L houses! I wrote about Palmer and Lamdin for Style Magazine back in 2012. Here's the link (the photos have since disappeared; they went to a new platform a few years ago, which obliterated all the photographs from the entire site up to that point. Sigh):

  2. Wonderful site you've put together! There is a mention of 3541 Pickwick Road whichis actually 2541 Pickwick. Also, PL designed 2539 Pickwick and much of the renovation of existing Dickeyville homes in the 1930's as the village was being redeveloped, are attributed to PL. I wonder where I can find more info about PL work in Dickeyville.

    1. Thanks for the correction. If you look at the sidebar, there's a list of P&L projects, as part of a catalogue which was created by the successor firms to P&L. It was done in the 1980's. UB has the P&L records.
